Jan 1 This morning the children and I went to church. Cold blustery day. Snowing tonight.
Jan 2 Nothing but chores done today. Cold blustery day with plenty of snow.
Jan 3 Today I husked a load of corn bought of F. Fisher at 40cents per bu. Fair cold day.
Jan 4 Today I husked load of soft corn bought of Forest Lattimore. Fair cold day.
Jan 5 This morning we took load of corn and had shelled for hogs. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair warmer day with rain tonight. The snow is melting fast.
Jan 6 All home today. Cold rainy day.
Jan 7 Nothing but chores done today. Cold blustery and some snow fell.
Jan 8 This morning Paul and I husked load of soft corn on Forest L. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair cold day.
Jan 9 Today we butchered 2 hogs. Stewart and Bill Boner helped. This evening Billie husked load of soft corn on Forest. Fair cold day.
Jan 10 Today Live Boner helped us cut the lard and make the sausage. Also rendered the lard about 14 gal. Cloudy cold day.
Jan 11 Nothing but chores done today. Snowed hard all day.
Jan 12 Very cold blustery day. 21 below zero this morning. So bad the rural mail carriers didn't get around.
Jan 13 We are all home today. Very cold wintry day. Snow is drifted very bad.
Jan 14 Very bad cold weather. I went with the children to school to help them through the snow drifts. This afternoon it began to snow again. Snowing hard tonight.
Jan 15 The snow is so deep and drifted the children didn't go to school. Bess and I went to town today. Cloudy cold with about 16 to 18 inches of snow.
Jan 16 Today I husked load of soft corn off Lattimore. Fair cold day.
Jan 17 This morning I went to Hayden after coal but didn't get any so I bought load of wood from Will Derringer. Cold blustery day.
Jan 18 Today I husked another load of corn off Lattimore. Fair cold day.
Jan 19 I went to town today. Fair cold day.
Jan 20 We all went over to Paw's this afternoon. Fair and warmer this evening. Last night was the coldest night so far, 24 below zero.
Jan 21 Nothing done today except I hauled a load of wood from Will Derringer. Cold fair till after dinner, then began snowing.
Jan 22 This morning I husked load of soft corn. This evening I went to town. Fair cold day.

Jan 24 Today I went to Mike Par's sale and then went to Hayden after barrel salt. Cloudy warmer day.
Jan 25 This morning I husked load of soft corn. This evening I cleaned the hog house. Fair and warmer, the snow is melting fast.
Jan 26 Sleet and rain all day. Bess and I went to town this evening.
Jan 27 Bess and I went to Mr. Nelson Evan's funeral at the N. Vernon M.E. Church this morning. All home this evening. Cold cloudy day.
Jan 28 Nothing done today. Cloudy cold day.
Jan 29 Paul and I hauled out 5 loads of manure today. Cleaned it out of cow stable. This morning I sold Albert Ross, Mollie mare ($150) and one Jersey cow ($35). Fair cold day.
Jan 30 Today I took a calf to town. Sold to Fox 11 cents. Fair cold day. The roads are very slick and icy.
Jan 31 This morning I delivered a cow sold to Ross. This evening I husked load of soft corn on Forest. Fair cold day.
Feb 1 Today I husked another load of corn on Forest. Fair cold day. Last night Ed Baker stayed with us then went on to town this morning for examination for service.
Feb 2 Bess and I went to town today. Cloudy cold day.
Feb 3 Bess and I went to Elzora Ewing's funeral today. She died Friday night. Fair cold day.
Feb 4 I went to Vernon today. Fair and very cold day.
Feb 5 Today I hauled two loads of wood from Will Derringer. Fair and cold day.

Mar 7 This morning Sam Lockard and I cut willows out of the creek. This evening we piled timber for wood. Pleasant day.

Mar 15 This morning Sam Lockard is tearing down a plank fence back of barn. I finished the pig house. This evening Sam went over to Paw's to pile wood. I am working in the hog pens. Fair cool day.
Mar 16 This morning I took load of corn to Mill and had it ground for feed. This evening Bess and I went to town. Beautiful day.
Mar 17 Today we went to George Baker's. Pleasant day.
Mar 18 Sam is hauling manure on potato patch today. This morning I am canvassing Government Seed Corn Report. This evening I went to town after the car. Has been in for repair. Pleasant day.
Mar 19 Sam is hauling manure today. Bess and I went to Clyde Wetzel's sale. Pleasant day.
Mar 20 Sam is hauling manure today. Joe Stewart and Sade were here today. This evening I went to S.J. Marsh to Lovett to drive home a machine. Pleasant day.
Mar 21 Sam is hauling out manure. I plowed the garden and disked it. Sowed lettuce. Pleasant day.
Mar 22 Sam is hauling manure today. I planted some potatoes in garden. Cooler and little rain today.
Mar 23 Rainy day. We went to town this evening.

Apr 3 Had a very bad hail storm and rain last night. The creek is out today. Bess and I went to N. Vernon to Father Widern's Silver Jubilee this morning. Nothing done this evening. Tonight we went back to St. Mary's School entertainment. Fair cool day.
Apr 4 This morning I helped Stewart Euler raise a barn. This evening I and Paul hitched Dugie colt for first time. Fair cool day.
Aug 5 This morning I took a log to mill and had it sawed into lumber. This evening we are training colts. Warm and cloudy day.
Apr 6 This morning I had load of feed ground for hogs. This evening Bess and I went to town. Cloudy cool with some rain.
Apr 7 The children and I went to church this morning. This evening we all went to Paw's. Fair cool day.
Apr 8 Today I helped Stewart Euler shingle on barn. Cloudy cold day. The assessor is here tonight.
Apr 9 This morning I had load of feed ground. This evening I am preparing the wagons to haul hogs tomorrow. Cloudy cold day.
Apr 10 Today I took 45 head of hogs to town. I shipped them to Indianapolis. I went with them. Cold rain and snowy day.
Apr 11 I am at Indianapolis Stockyards today. Came home tonight. Cloudy cool.
Apr 12 I didn't do anything today. Tom Rose began to work this afternoon. Hauled out manure. Fair cool day.

Apr 14 The children and I went to church this morning. This evening I took Emmie and Granny over to Aunt Jane's. She is sick. Pleasant day.

Apr 18 This morning I built a scaffold in silo for roofing. Tom hauled out manure. This evening we hauled in the straw stack, also hauled Henry Burgmeyer a load of hay. $28 per ton. Fair warmer day.
Apr 19 Tom is hauling manure today. This morning I went to Ed Nordlah's after and old plow. This evening I am repairing the plow. Fair cool day.
Apr 20 Rainy cold day. Nothing much done today. Bess and I went to town this evening.

Apr 22 This morning we hauled up some timber for wood. This evening I went to town after two new gates. The boys trimmed trees. Fair cool day.

Apr 26 Today we are hauling wood into woodhouse and splitting and ricking in place. Cloudy little rain.

Apr 30 We began to plow for corn today. Plowing in Betsy Bottoms. Cloudy, very cool day.
May 1 We are plowing today. We all went to Hayden to the Commencement tonight. Paul graduated out of the 8th grade. Fair cool day.

Jun 26 Tom is splitting wood this morning. I am shoeing horses. This evening I took load of hay to town. The boys hoed weeds. Fair and warm day.

Jul 9 The boys plowed corn this morning and I mowed hay. Stewart and Velnoer(?) helped us put up 7 loads of hay. Fair cool day.
Jul 10 I went to town after a wheel for Paul. The boys plowed corn all day. I helped Ed Stewart haul in wheat this evening. Cool threatening with little rain late this evening.
Jul 11 This morning I helped Ed finish stacking wheat. Paul and Tom plowed corn this morning. Tom's last day, he quit. Paul and I put up 2 loads hay this evening. Pleasant day.

Aug 1 Today I am putting a new axel in old wagon. Hot sultry day.

Aug 9 Bess and I started to Columbus Fair this morning but had some engine trouble and didn't get there. Hot sultry day.

Aug 12 Today I helped thrash Lawrence Stewart, J. G. Marsh and Stewart Euler. Hot sultry day.
Aug 13 Today we thrashed Charles Woodward, Roy Marsh. Hot sultry day.
Aug 14 Today we thrashed Alvin Marsh and James McQuade. Hot sultry day.
Aug 15 Today we thrashed Hen. Burgmeyer and myself. I had 272 bu. and moved to Frank Fisher. Hot sultry day.
Aug 16 Today we thrashed Frank Fisher with bad luck, did get along very well. Hot sultry day.
Aug 17 This afternoon partly thrashed Ed Stewart another break down, didn't finish. Hot sultry day.
Aug 18 We went to church this morning. This evening we went to Jackson after watermelons. Hot sultry with a good rain last night.
Aug 19 Today we finished thrashing Ed Stewart and Ivan Marsh. Fair and cooler.
Aug 20 Today Paul and I helped thrash Oiler and Gaughan and Pickelsener. Done thrashing now. Fair cool day.
Aug 21 This morning I took load of wheat to Vernon, $2.05 per bu. This evening Bess and I went to town. Fair warm day. This morning Paul went after first load of green corn for feed.
Aug 22 This morning I took load of wheat to Vernon. Got in load of feed this evening. Today is Bess' birthday - 38. Had a surprise on her tonight. A crowd of 56 gathered here. Hot sultry day.
